Matricaria recutita
Chamomile is a classic herb that has an affinity for the nervous system and digestive system. When steeped for longer than a few minutes, we note the bitter action of chamomile coming to the surface. This bitter action has a downward drawing action in the body- pulling excess energy from the head, down through the digestive system and excreted out. Which is how it supports patterns of excessive heat and dampness. The Carminative action is important as well- soothing an overactive mind that shows as a sensitive tummy. Helping to soothe trapped wind and relieve irritation.
It's cooling, drying, bitter, sweet, slightly aromatic, relaxing
Actions: Carminative, inflammation modulating, nervine sedative, bitter tonic, spasmolytic
